Lauren’s Portrait Session

•August 15, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I could not have wished for better weather for this photo session as it had been raining non stop for a few days. I had seen these barley fields and thought about placing someone wearing bright bold colours contrasting against the gold of the barley, but I knew it had to be a bright summers day.

It’s great when someone is willing to go along with your crazy ideas, the result… some really different portraits to hang on your wall or show off in a beautiful Portrait Book.

If your interested in a Portrait Session, please contact me through my website.

Colin & Kelly

Colin and Kelly’s Engagement Session was so much fun that it went on longer than we had planned. It was a beautiful warm evening, the Mount Stewart Gardens were closed to the public so we had time to explore different areas of these beautiful gardens. This would be the perfect venue to have your wedding, so many fantastic buildings and different style gardens to use.

These guys are so organized, they have most of the details of their wedding planned, they even know the album they want, a beautiful Graphi Studio Wedding Book.

Steve & Shelly

Just a few images from Steve and Shelly’s engagement session. This was the second attempt as the last time the weather was just so bad. It was cold and windy even this time round, but Steve was a real trooper and didn’t even wear a coat.
These photographs were taken around Carrickfergus castle right beside the sea, so you can imagin the wind that was blowing off the sea..
Their wedding is in September at the beautiful Belfast Castle, I’m really looking forward to their big day as they are just such a great couple to photograph and such a great venue to have your wedding.

Summer Portrait Offer

•June 7, 2008 • 1 Comment

Thank goodness for great weather, summer is here at last. This portrait was taken in a lovely bright overcast day, it was just perfect lighting. The clouds act as a great big softbox and make the lighting less harsh on the skin.

I haven’t had a special offer for a while, so seeing summer is here and everyone is in a good mood, for the month of June I’m offering a Lifestyle Portrait Session complete with a  30″ x 11″ frame and three 7×5 prints for £290.00 to the first 10 people who go to my web site and email me with their details. http://www.alanreidphotography.com/about.html

Portrait Session Continued

•May 24, 2008 • 2 Comments

I think these are my favorite images from this lifestyle portrait session, the first image below is to be made into a large streched canvas, the second image is the cover for a Finao book bound art album.

These albums are very high quality and will last for years. I find that about 70% of my clients see these albums and have to have one. It’s a hard decission picking 1 or 2 photographs to hang on the wall, so to have the complete Lifestyle Portrait Session of your child or family all put together into a beautiful album is just so exciting.

Recent Portrait Session

Now that the light is getting better and the evenings longer, it’s great to be able to shoot Lifestyle Portraits a little later in the day when the sun is going down and we get the best light of all.

Portrait Session at home

•April 23, 2008 • Leave a Comment

This is a good example of not having to go too far for some simple portraits. These photographs were all taken at the girls home.

For anyone interested, these were all taken on a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 which I tend to use about 80% of the time now as it is a fantastic lens. The 50mm lens on a Nikon D2x is kinda like using a 75mm because of the sensor size, so it’s perfect for portraits.

If you are interested in having your family photographed, please contact me from the details on my website.

New Albums

•April 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Just took delivery of two beautiful new Jorgensen sample wedding albums today and they are stunning. One is a Probound 17×12 upright with Premium Marble Leather cover.

The second album is a Probound 12×17 horizontal with Contempo Black Acrylic cover with beautiful charcoal and silver mats.

The quality of these albums is of a very high standard and must be seen to be really appreciated. I thought I would have had these albums at the last wedding fair in Scrabo Golf Club, but they didn’t arrive on time. For the couples that were interested in seeing these albums and gave me your details, I will be contacting you this week, as for anyone else who would like to see any of my new albums, please contact me to arrange a time to view them.

Easter Greetings

It’s great to get some time off work to just chill. The hardest work I had to do was a photo session with this little guy, he is so cute.

The promise of some easter egg had him posing in no time.

New website up and running

•March 9, 2008 • Leave a Comment

After what seemed like a life time, my new site is up and running. Just a few tweaks to do here and there, and change some of the images, but the design is kept very clean and simple the way I like it.

A big thank-you to the DCS web team for putting what was in my head onto reality. If your looking for a very creative design in print or web design, check out their website here.

Scrabo Wedding Fayre went well to day, I was trying to talk to 2 or 3 people most of the time, so I think I’ll need an extra pair of hands next time. Thank you to everyone who talked with me, and especially you who booked with me on the day, it’s always good to be able to put new dates in to your diary there and then.

Please go to my site and fill in the contact sheet in my “about” page if you have any questions regarding pricing, albums, portraits or anything else you want to ask me.
